Entry Information
Membership in the Guild of Book Workers is required for entrance.  This is an exhibition of the bookbinding work of GBW members.  Please visit http://www.guildofbookworkers.org/ for national membership details.  Current members of the New England Chapter of GBW (as of the membership list on November 1st, 2010) will qualify for a discounted entry fee (see below).

Jurors will select bindings from digital image entries submitted by the due date of February 1, 2011.  A single entry is permitted, but you are welcome to submit up to a maximum of 3 images of your binding for consideration.  We suggest one full view (both boards and spine), and one or two detail shots that help the judges ascertain the quality of the workmanship as well as the design (a close up of head cap or titling, for example).  Images must be in jpg file format and a minimum 640 x 480 pixels @ 72dpi.  Images must be named as “binders name-1.jpg” (e.g. smith-1.jpg, smith-2.jpg, etc.).

An entry form will be sent to all those who submit an intent to enter by December 31, 2010.  Your intent to enter is a simple email message providing your contact information sent to pwexhibition@yahoo.com.

Entry Fee
The Pictorial Webster’s Exhibition is open to members of the Guild of Book Workers.  The entrance fee is $45.00 ($30 for New England Chapter members as of November 1, 2010).  This fee will cover the cost of return shipping as well as insured shipping between venues.  Entry fees will also be applied to other exhibition costs, including the production of a printed exhibition catalog.

Exhibition Plans
Selected bindings will be included in a traveling exhibition as well as a printed catalog.  The exhibit will be on view in at least two venues, with the potential for additional venues based on fundraising results and availability.  The exhibition will open in Boston and will be on view during the Guild of Book Worker’s Standards of Excellence Seminar in October 2011.  The selected bindings will be requested by March 1, 2011 so they can be photographed for the catalog.  We request your flexibility on the return date (we are working on the potential schedule for additional venues) but the exhibit will not travel beyond 2012.
