John J. Burns Library Exhibit

Title of exhibit:  Fine Specimens of the Bibliopegistic Art: Bookbindings from the Burns Library Collections. Curators: David Richtmyer, John J. Burns Library Rare Books Librarian & Senior Cataloger, and Barbara Adams Hebard, Conservator, with guest curator Mark Esser, former Book Conservator.
 
Brief description: Over twenty finely bound books from the Burns Library’s rare book collection are on display in the Irish Room and the O’Brien Fine Print Room from September 3rd through October 31st, 2012 as part of the exhibition, Fine Specimens of the Bibliopegistic Art: Bookbindings from the Burns Library Collections.

In a complementary event, the Burns Library conservator Barbara Adams Hebard will give a presentation about bookbinding design and structure.

GBW Retirement Party for Jeff Altepeter

Please join us as we celebrate Jeff Altepeter’s years of service as Chair of the New England Chapter of the Guild of Bookworkers. What better way to celebrate his return to civilian life than with pizza and candlepin bowling? We ask that you bring $12 per person to cover the cost of the lanes and pizza. Shoe rental ($2 a person) is on you, as well as drinks. Kids are welcome! Put your bowling skills to the test against your fellow chapter members! We have the lanes from 2-4 and can continue the celebration afterwards at a nearby establishment depending on interest.
