Lecture by Paul Johnson
Thursday June 20th at 7:30pm
314 Forest Ave.
Portland ME 04101
Watch famed British book artist and educator Paul Johnson pull a library’s worth of books – many his own, others made by British schoolchildren – from a single suitcase! He’ll talk about the endless power of the book as an aesthetic, architectural form and its special fascination for children of all ages.
Paul will also have his own books for sale in a wide price range.
The lecture will be co-hosted by NEGBW and The Baxter Society. Founded in 1983, the Society is named in honor of James Phinney Baxter, 1831-1921, Portland mayor and philanthropist whose gifts provided the first permanent building for the Portland Public Library in 1888.
The lecture will take place at the Glickman Library on the campus of the University of Southern Maine located minutes from downtown Portland Maine. Map
