NEGBW Rhode Island Day, May 3rd

This is a reminder that our first ever “NEGBW Rhode Island Day” will be held Saturday May 3, 2014. Please see the schedule below. The day will start with a visit to Ruth Strach’s bindery in North Scituate where you will have the chance to visit with Ruth, see the studio and a display of work by her students. Ruth promises to have a nice pot of coffee ready for early bird visitors. Later that morning Lauren Pearlman Sugita, proprietor of the Providence based Paper Connections, will be opening her store for NEGBW members. At noon Lauren will be doing a mini presentation about the Japanese papermaking process. While you are in Providence, be sure to stop by the Rhode Island School of Design’s Fleet Library to see the NEGBW’s multi-state book exhibition, Geographies: New England Book Work. The exhibit will be moving to its next venue at the end of May. Be sure to see it before it heads to Maine! While not specifically NEGBW related it is fun to note that a few blocks away from the Fleet Library the RISD Alumni and Student Art Sale will be happening the same day. This is a great chance to buy original artwork from current and former RISD students.

We are looking forward to this day, as there is a nice combination of shopping, socializing, and sharing information with fellow members. You can come to one part of the day or do the whole thing – there is definitely some flexibility. We look forward to seeing you there!
