Please join us for an afternoon of book and culinary history at Rabelais Books. Owner Don Lindgren will discuss his collection and his catalogue of antiquarian cookbooks, and books from related fields. Don will provide examples of books which illustrate various shifts and trends in the display of information, in the use of materials and print technologies, and other unusual physical aspects of the cookbook.

Our visit will include time for questions & answers, and time to browse this phenomenal collection, as well as current titles from the culinary world. Consider it a ripe opportunity to add to your own cookbook collection.

Rabelais is located at the North Dam Mill, Building 18, 2 Main Street, in downtown Biddeford, Maine. By car it will take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to get there from the Boston area.

Consider taking the Downeaster Amtrak train from Boston; the Saco Station stop is a 5 minute walk from the North Dam Mill Building, and includes a new pedestrian bridge that spans the Saco River. Train leaves Boston 10:20am, arrives Saco 12:25pm Trains returns to Boston from Saco at 3:52pm and 7:17pm [Note: Amtrak is having a $15 one-way fare sale in January.]

Attendance is not limited in number, but please RSVP to negbwprograms@gmail.com so that we can know how many to expect. Those who RSVP will be contacted in the interim with information on post-Rabelais social opportunities in the North Dam Mill Building and surrounding area.
